Khan vs Brook - Amir Khan is discussing a huge Kell Brook match-up with Eddie HearnIt had to happen sooner or later. Yes, with Mayweather vs Khan still nowhere close to being finalized, Amir Khan is looking to land a mega fight with Kell Brook. The Brit has recently been discussing the long-awaited match-up with Eddie Hearn, Brook’s promoter.

If it makes dollars, it makes sense. Such is the case often in boxing…

“We [Khan and Hearn] had a meeting at my office and discussed everything for a potential fight against Kell Brook in 2016,” Khan told The National. “I have made it clear to Eddie that I want this fight to be a big fight worldwide, not just in the U.K.

“I told him Kell needs to fight a couple of big names and beat them, obviously. The fight will be a Khan Promotions and Matchroom Promotions event in the UK, at Wembley Stadium.”

For a fight that seems a long way off, Khan seems to be very confident of it materializing. It would be interesting to hear Khan’s thoughts on the fight once Mayweather has announced his September opponent; if Khan’s name isn’t read, the Brit may well chase after the Brook fight with a little more urgency.

Or, perhaps sign the contract right away. After all, if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Khan’s current mindset in the sport, it’s that he’s about big money – not big wins. And non-threatening opponents like Luis Collazo, Devon Alexander and Chris Algieri prove that.

A fight with Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman would equal big bucks and are just as risky, but they’d pale next to the profits of Khan vs Brook. Not only would the British dust-up be televised globally, it would fill London’s Wembley Stadium, and also fetch a pretty penny on Sky Sports PPV.

And given Hearn’s strong relationship with Sky – especially following Froch vs Groves II – you can guarantee this is going to be a huge money spinner. If it happens.

Khan, of course, couldn’t help but remind us all how dominant he would be against Brook.

“Do I think this is a 50/50 fight?” Khan asked. “Absolutely not. Kell is a very comfortable opponent for me. Styles make fights and his style is perfect for me. I will beat him very easily. He won’t be able to handle my speed, power and footwork.”

Kell Brook, easy work? Mmm…what do you think? Is Amir Khan accurate or dreaming? And more importantly, how big would a Khan vs Brook fight be for boxing?
