Boxing News Roundup - Shane Mosley could be targeting Juan Manuel Marquez and Kell BrookDiego De La Hoya Will Top Friday’s LA Bill

He’s just 21-years-old and already beginning to catch the attention of the boxing world. Diego De La Hoya (11-0, 7 KO), the cousin of Golden Boy’s Oscar, will be topping Friday’s LA Fight Club bill against capable-yet-beatable Jesus Ruiz (34-6-5, 21 KO). Ruiz shouldn’t be about to bring the upset, but at 25, he’s at least got age on his side. The Featherweight 10-rounder will be broadcast on Estrella TV, and will see fighters Christian Gonzalez, Everton Lopes and Jesus Delgado also in action.

Oleksandr Usyk Maintains Perfect KO Record

After capturing a Gold Medal at the 2012 Olympics, Oleksandr Usyk’s reputation is becoming more than a little ferocious in the pro game. The Ukrainian Cruiserweight, who boasts a win over fellow puncher Artur Beterbiev at the World Amateur Championships, knocked out Johnny Muller (19-5-2, 13 KO) at the weekend. Usyk has already been swept under the wing of K2 Promotions, and with stablemates such as Gennady Golovkin, that in itself is quite an impressive feat given Usyk (8-0, 8 KO) is just two years into his pro career. With plenty of TNT already taking place at 200 pounds, Usyk looks to only add more fuel to an explosive division.

Shane Mosley Hunting Dangerous Game

After 43-year-old Shane Mosley beat up former victim Ricardo Mayorga (31-9-1, 25 KO) at the weekend, the Future Hall of Famer looks to be chasing down a lucrative fight. Mosely announced on Twitter that he would like to fight unbeaten Kell Brook or Mexican legend, Juan Manuel Marquez. Mosley would be paid generously for his part against either man, but would likely take a heavy beating. A prime Brook could do serious damage, and even an inactive, aging Marquez could dish out considerable punishment. They’re not fights anyone would like to see, but Mosley (48-9-1, 40 KO), who seems in need of the money, may well continue to pursue this fights, nonetheless. If he does, good luck to him. And if he gets it, at least reward boxing fans with the best freakin’ undercard of all time.
