Bradley vs Vargas - Timothy Bradley and Jessie Vargas at weigh-inAhead of Bradley vs Vargas, both men successfully made weight at the StubHub Center, California. Both men looked good on the scales and seemed to have little problems making the Welterweight limit. Bradley was of course the more muscular of the two, looking like he could have turned up to a bodybuilding competition. And won.

Both men weighed in exactly the same, the scales revealing 146.4 pounds. If Bradley and Vargas had expressed mutual respect for one another in the press conferences leading up to now, that all seemed to dissipate today. Certainly when their eyes met during a heated stare-down. For the taller Vargas in particular, the ‘stare-down’ seemed to contain a double-meaning. With a 4 inch height advantage, there was something slightly cartoonish about the height dynamic.

Not that this factor should pose too much of a threat to four-time world champion Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KO). The fighter may also give away 2 inches in reach, but popular opinion insists his vast experience will lead to his hand being raised. That said, it shouldn’t come as too much of a shocker if Vargas (26-0, 9 KO) comes out on top in this closely-matched Top Rank headliner.

Other weights on the undercard included Oscar Valdez (15-0, 14 KO) who came in at 127.4 pounds, and Ruben Tamayo (25-5-4, 17 KO) who came in at 129.

So there it is. Both men are ready, the fans are ready – but who are you picking? Let us know below! You can also see our Bradley vs Vargas expert picks and fight poll results, and catch live round by round updates here at BoxingBase.com and on Twitter.
