Khan vs Algieri - Amir Khan trash-talks on TwitterPerhaps the title is a little presumptuous? Yes, probably. But it seems to be the general feeling among those who’ve read the whistle blower-like tweet. Well, whistle blower-like without the actual ‘name-shaming’, that is.

Khan (@AmirKingKhan) recently tweeted: One down.. Another to go, cheats always get caught out, just a matter of time

Kell Brook – and any other fighter – shouldn’t be facing any judgment since the comment really couldn’t be any more vague. But here’s why many fight fans believe the tweet was probably geared toward fellow Brit, Kell Brook:

First of all, Khan doesn’t like Brook. And Brook doesn’t like Khan. Yes, it sounds a little childish (call it ‘fighter bravado’, if you will). They both think they’d whoop each other, but haven’t settled anything with leather just as yet.

So to substitute, they often spear each other through television screens and social media with insults. They like getting under each others’ skin, clearly.

That cat-clawing has been going for a while. (But for the love of money, can it at least lead toward a future fight, already!)

And now reason two: Kell Brook’s Matchroom stablemate, Kid Galahad, was recently issued a two-year boxing ban after testing positive for a PED. For those seeking greater insight, the drug found circulating Galahad’s blood was a steroid known as Stanolozol.

Khan’s tweet seems a little childish, in all honesty. And yeah, rather pointless since he consciously chose to not shame the ‘cheater’ – unless Khan’s aim was to just piss off Brook, and any fighter who perhaps fought at the weekend? If so, then Khan’s mission is complete.

There’s also the possibility that the tweet could have been aimed at Chris Algieri, whom Khan outpointed at the weekend. But that would seem less likely.

Ah, the wonder of boxing trash-talk…

If there’s one thing both Khan and Brook are guilty of, it’s fighting weak opposition this past weekend. All right, all right, Algieri was actually on his game, and Frankie Gavin did have some balls going 6 rounds. But fight fans really wanted to see Khan and Brook take on some tougher opposition – Welterweight top-10s at least.

What do you think about Khan’s recent words on Twitter? Who do you think they were aimed at? And since Khan refused to actually shame anyone, should he have refrained from spewing the accusation through his fingertips altogether?
