Jacobs vs Mora - Daniel Jacobs and Sergio Mora pose at weigh-inAt the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York, Jacobs vs Mora kicked off with a classic opener, but ended in unfortunate, unsatisfactory fashion moments later.

In the 1st round, Jacobs knocked down Mora with a right-hand, and seconds later, Mora returned the favor with a left. It looked like many more fireworks were to follow on the PBC on ESPN co-feature.

Mora found himself on the canvas again in the 2nd, but immediately complained of leg/ankle problems. The referee then waved off the contest, much to the disappointment of the Brooklyn crowd.

Upon watching the replay, one could finally understand Mora’s plight. Mora’s leg had buckled underneath him in a way that would make even the strongest of stomach’s queezy. Only an X-ray can confirm what happened – but take it from us, that leg’s in bad shape. Pop, snap – whatever – there’s no way the fight could have continued.

Jacobs climbs to 30-1, 27 knockouts, and Mora falls to 28-4-2, 9 knockouts. Unfortunately this encounter has produced more questions than answers. But in all honesty, is there enough interest for a rematch?

Meh…
