Brook vs Bizier - Kell Brook will face Kevin Bizier next, but still hopes for Amir Khan clashNo official date has been set as of yet, but it’s now official that IBF Welterweight champ Kell Brook will face mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier. The fight will take place at a yet to be named venue in the UK. Now, as you’ve probably noticed, Bizier’s name isn’t the one everybody has been waiting to hear get announced: Amir Khan.

There’s nothing I can say to make the situation any better, folks, so just…I don’t know, go and scream into a pillow that you hate boxing politics or something. At least Brook (35-0, 24 KO) is continuing to chase the ever elusive Brook vs Khan blockbuster, among other marquee name fights out there for 2016.

“I would rather it be against someone else,” Kell Brook told ESPN, “but I’ve not trained my whole life just to give the belt away, so I need to fight him (Bizier), it is what it is.

“You know that the fight everyone wants is against Khan, or the likes of Tim Bradley, Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia. These are the type of fighters I want to fight. I’ve not been in good company opponents-wise and I want to jump on them this year.”

“Khan has got nowhere else to go. He was waiting and waiting for Floyd Mayweather, didn’t get it, then he waited for Pacquiao, and never got it. The fight against me is there to be made, it’s the biggest fight out there for him, and he’s got nowhere to hide now.”

Amen to that, Brook. Both fighters really do need to start getting ‘Bizier’ in negotiations this year (ah, come on, I couldn’t resist that one).

I’ll add that Bizier (25-2, 17 KO) is no chump. The 31-year-old knows his way around the ring, carries some notable power, and doesn’t deserve to be slaughtered on boxing forums. It’s just that, you know, Brook is one of the best Welterweights in the world right now, and boxing fans haven’t seen him face a Top 10 foe since Shawn Porter in August 2014!

Here’s Bizier in action on PBC against Fredrick Lawson last November. Bizier claimed a decent scalp, dropping the formerly undefeated fighter in the 5th round, with Lawson pulling out after the 10th due to a possible broken jaw.
