Lara vs Rodriguez - Erislandy Lara and Delvin Rodriguez at weigh-inAhead of tonight’s Lara vs Rodriguez headliner at the UIC Pavilion, Chicago, both fighters successfully made weight on the scales. Erislandy Lara came in at 153.6 pounds, and his opponent, Delvin Rodriguez, 153.4 pounds. Many are predicting Lara to put in a boxing clinic here, and they’re probably right. Going in, Lara is 20-2-2, with 12 knockouts, and Rodriguez 28-7-4, 16 knockouts. Lara will be defending his WBA Junior Middleweight strap.

Lara shouldn’t have to dig too deep to find a win against Rodriguez, who let’s be honest, is considered to be headed toward journeyman status. Certainly after this bout, should Lara take care of business with the expected ease. Alvarez vs Lara this is not.

Lara vs Rodriguez will be supported by a lengthy undercard, the most eye-catching being that of Beterbiev vs Johnson. The heavy-handed Artur Beterbiev came in at 175 pounds for his Light Heavyweight bout, while Alexander Johnson came in at 174.2. Beterbiev will enter the ring 8-0, with 8 knockouts, and Johnson, 16-2, with 7 knockouts.
