Miguel Cotto and Freddie Roach have officially started their training camp ahead of Canelo AlvarezMiguel Cotto’s training camp has officially started at the Wild Card gym. In case you’ve been living under a rock, the WBC Middleweight champion is set to take on Mexico’s superstar Canelo Alvarez on November 21st. The HBO PPV event will take place at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, and is predicted to be the second biggest seller of the year (not named Mayweather-Pacquiao).

“I am more than ready to get to work and am fully confident that the plan Freddie Roach has in place for our team is going to ensure that I am prepared to lock in this victory on Nov. 21,” Cotto told ESPN.

Roach himself, as always, if very confident of his charge’s ability and chances of beating the formidable Alvarez who has suffered just one defeat at the hands of Mayweather. Roach and Cotto have now entered their fourth training camp, which started with the Delvin Rodriguez fight back in 2013.

“The energy at Wild Card is at an all-time high,” Roach said. “Miguel is one of the hardest working men I know and he did not waste any time getting into the ring with me. I know that we have the tools we need for a successful training camp that will put Miguel in the best position possible to beat Canelo.”

Whoever you’re picking, you cannot deny Miguel Cotto will be in very good company during his preparations. Roach is a seven-time Trainer of the Year and Hall of Famer, after all. But will it be enough to beat Canelo, another skilled, tenacious fighter who is nine years Cotto’s junior?
