Tarver-Cunningham Weigh-In - Antonio Tarver and Steve Cunningham poseAt the Prudential Center, New Jersey, Antonio Tarver (31-6, 22 KO) weighed in at 217 pounds, and opponent Steve Cunningham (28-7, 13 KO) 204 pounds. Cunningham, who looked more Cruiser than Heavyweight as per usual, carried the more defined physique. Tarver physique paled in comparison, but should serve him well against his smaller foe.

This the outcome of Tarver-Cunningham won’t change the Heavyweight landscape in any way whatsoever, but there a few things to know. Tarver is gunning for a title shot at Wladimir Klitschko, which is quite a lofty ambition at the age of 46. His chances of landing that fight, let alone beating the guy, are slim and none. The waiting list is long, and there’s little chance of Tarver leap-frogging fighters like Deontay Wilder, and other Top 10 Ranked Heavyweights.

Resolution Sports caught the Tarver-Cunningham weigh-in action:

Tarver’s recent exploits in the ring include a 7th round knockout of Jonathan Banks in late 2014, which in all honesty, isn’t as impressive as it sounds. Banks is a decent fighter, but more so moonlights as a fighter while training Wladimir Klitschko. 39-year-old Cunningham lost a Unanimous Decision to Vyacheslav Glazkov in March, which was somewhat controversial. Cunningham is tough, durable, and should make this lowbrow match-up interesting.

Marco Huck (38-2-1, 26 KO) weighed in at 199 pounds for his WBO Cruiserweight title defense. His unbeaten challenger, Krzyzstof Glowacki (24-0, 15 KO), came in at a ready 198. Some are calling Huck-Glowacki a mismatch, while others are saying a surprise could be in the cards. We’ll soon find out if Huck has this one in the bag or not.

Finally, Artur Szpilka weighed in at 231 pounds, and his opponent, Yasmany Consuegra, 230. The pair will do battle in a non-title Heavyweight clash.
