Flanagan vs Zepeda Undercard

Liam Walsh vs Isaias Sampaio

Round 1: Walsh looking to come forward on offensive, Sampaio dancing, looking evasive. Walsh picking some decent punches, very patient and selective in opener. Quiet round, but Walsh looking the boss. Walsh, 10-9

Round 2: Better round for Sampaio, but it is Walsh who is the superior operator. Walsh still feeling out and testing what is Sampaio is capable of here. Walsh, 10-9 (20-18)

Round 3: Not too much to comment on here. Walsh is pursuing Sampaio, winning rounds, but not landing anything spectacular. Sampaio landed decent right-hand during round. Walsh, 10-9 (30-27)

Round 4: Walsh continuing to put on effective pressure, but can’t find the range to truly nail Sampaio with anything telling. Sampaio is moving well, it has to be said for the underdog.

Round 5: Argh! Blame technology for the interference – can’t score round. (??)

Round 6: Walsh drops Sampaio with a crippling body shot he cannot recover from.

Result: Walsh wins via 6th round KO

Paul Butler vs Gustavo Molina

Round 1: Both men looking sharp in opening seconds. Molina has come to fight and is throwing leather. Both men landing during exchange, nothing telling as of yet. Fairly even round, but Butler is slightly sharper and crisper. Butler, 10-9

Round 2: Molina is fancying the body in this fight so far, and visiting the ribs of Butler frequently. Butler picking up his work rate and clipping Molina with some accurate shots. Butler lands two shots to body. Molina traps Butler on ropes, but Butler fights off well. Pace and power increasing now. Butler, 10-9 (29-18)

Round 3: Molina is all body here. Bang, bang. But Butler is targeting Molina upstairs of course, clipping his foe. Butler lands hard, snapping volume shots on Molina, thinks he has him hurt, but Molina is durable, tough. Butler, 10-9 (30-27)

Round 4: Butler is going to have to work hard ‘if’ he fancies a knockout in this fight. On points it shouldn’t be too difficult. Molina isn’t a puncher by any means, but he is fighting, and finding Butler right in front of him. Butler, 10-9 (40-36)

Round 5: Butler looking more loose in his movements, gaining confidence. Letting his hands go now, but Molina is firing still. Molina traps and chops away to body on ropes. Butler countering effectively and hard, possibly hurts Molina with left-hook. He has – Butler launches assault and referee steps in!

Result: Butler wins via 5th round TKO

Jack Catterall vs Gabriel Calfin

Round 1: Both men busy in opening seconds. Catterall clips Calfin with decent hook, causing him to tie up. Calfin respecting his opponent’s power. Calfin smothering Catterall’s work, and holding a fair bit. Looking anxious, and like he could be going fairly soon in this fight. Catterall, 10-9

Round 2: Catterall landing some hard combinations, staggers Calfin. Calfin looks very uncomfortable here. Catterall has point deducted for holding. Catterall p***** off, goes on assault to vent anger. Pressures Calfin, beating the Argentine up. Catterall wants this. Solid straights, hooks from Caterall. Even, 9-9 (19-18)

Round 3: Catterall landing some heavy, heavy shots. Calfin complaining, trying to waste time. Catterall lands flush uppercut. Catterall deducted point after pushing Calfin down – but way harsh! Again, Catterall is all over Calfin. His foe holds on for dear life. Calfin’s left eye swelling. Even, 9-9 (28-27)

Round 4: Calfin deducted point for holding – this guy really doesn’t fancy this fight in any shape or form. Catterall blasting his foe hard, but Calfin so awkward with his spoiling tactics – Catterall may not get the knockout in this fight. Catterall, 10-8 (38-35)

Round 5: One-way traffic from Catterall now. Calfin’s left eye completely closed. Taking heavy punishment. How much longer is it necessary? At the bell, Calfin is deducted a point for head-butting. This is a no nonsense referee tonight without doubt! Catterall, 10-9 (48-43)

Round 6: Referee rightly stops fight after Catterall unloads all-out assault on one-eyed Calfin.

Result: Catterall wins via 6th round TKO
