With the hotly anticipated Cotto vs Canelo now clearly on the horizon, Boxing Base asked readers who they saw coming out on top after the showdown is all done and dusted. It’s billed as a neck-and-neck war of two nations, and on paper it certainly looks that way.
The power and all-action styles of Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez would point to an inevitable knockout, or at the very least, a ferocious 12-rounder littered with knockdowns. So let’s get straight to it, folks. What were the results of our latest poll: Who Wins Cotto vs Canelo?
Cotto via Points: 7%
Cotto via KO/TKO: 45%
Canelo via Points: 8%
Canelo via KO/TKO: 40%
The outcome is pretty interesting, with the numbers leaning slightly towards Cotto as the victor. This actually goes against bookmakers odds, most of which have Alvarez a fairly strong favorite.
But that’s the beauty of fights like this which truly divide opinion!
Readers suggested Cotto will be claiming the scalp of Alvarez this weekend at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas. And yeah, by what else than KO/TKO? But, Alvarez only lost out by a razor’s edge, his 40% (via KO/TKO) being edged by Cotto’s 45%.
For what it’s worth, readers did favor Canelo to win on Points – by one percent, that is. For a Points win, Canelo clocked up 8%, and Cotto 7%.
